Milestones Are Meant To Be Broken

Fifty. 50. Fiddy.

Thank you God for this precious gift of life. Thank you for each and every day that you give us on this earth, for that I am so very grateful always.

While today is memorable for me in many ways, friends are experiencing today much differently, and I send them much love and strength because life is so very precious.

Today is also my Grandmother Yana’s birthday.

Today three years ago, I released ‘You and Me’.

Today ten years ago, I spent my 40th in SYD solo.

Today eight years ago, I drove from SYD to MEL.

Today in 2012, I had been in Auckland for a year.

Today in 2003, I spent my first birthday in SYD.

Life is a roller coaster. For those along to witness mine, thank you for being here.

Life ticks by differently now. These days are more frequently filled with quiet moments and I’ve enjoyed being present in that space. I’ve had more time outside absorbing the sun, more time playing with the cats in the garden, and more time basking in music. I’ve been doing things that make me feel happy, without ego or shame. It’s been nice reconnecting with the entire world in person, and not via a screen - big or small.

But most of all, it’s because of the precious value these moment bring in real time. Moments connected with people, animals and nature. And when it boils down to it, do any of us know precisely how much time we actually have left? We don’t know. So get out there and make things happen now, because the time is now and time don’t wait.

Today I celebrate this milestone birthday with my family making memories doing something together, and that means the world to me. The best present I could get from them is what they gave me - their time. I love you, Mum, Dad, Skye, Joseph, the nephews - I love you.

To all my extended family, friends and connections online, thank you for your well wishes.

I love you all and I hope I get to see your faces in person, sharing moments of time together soon too.
