The storm is strong and doesn’t hold back. Fearless in its approach and velocity.
I close my eyes and brace for impact The rush over my body is indescribable
My breath quickens, my hands tingle The senses are all heightened and alert
My stomach growls out desperately Yet I stand here silently in the crowd
I know I cannot share this message to unknowns. Who is it? What’s happened? Why is their pain?
The force of it sends waves of electricity through my brain Tearing up each recess to find a likely answer
Saltwater waves form under my eyelids This time it’s someone who hasn’t been found
Lost in a sea of emotional despair Waves crashing in a calm formed manner
Bit by bit by tiny little bit. I take a calculated breath and open my eyes
Streams of liquid salt escape south I’m furiously scanning this elevated plane I’m on
Searching for the answer I need It’s found. I pinpoint it and exhale relief instantly
Now, how do I help without looking like a freak? Coz that’s what I am now, right?
Emotionally connected yet rejected by society I didn’t choose this path, it chose me
But I embrace it fully and am thankful for the power The power to understand fully
The power to help those in need The power of an Empath
