Messaging Changes

With the announcement that Meta (Facebook/Instagram/Threads/Whatsapp) is making changes to its messaging services, I am making changes as well.

From April 16, Meta is rolling Messenger back into the Facebook platform. As part of their Terms of Service, all direct messages will be used in training their AI - all of your personal details, relationship info and financial details you have shared with others will now belong to them.

From May 8, Instagram/Threads will remove end-end encryption from direct messages, allowing Meta to access chat content for monitoring, AI training or law enforcement requests - reducing privacy.

Finally, a January 2026 class action lawsuit against WhatsApp alleges they misrepresented their encryption, allowing employees to access chats.

I strongly suggest that unless you want Meta to own your messages, use this information to help train AI, and to profile you even further, is to delete all of your message history and cease using the DM side of their products.

For this to be effective, both parties on either end need to delete - if one side doesn’t delete, these messages will be used moving forward.

As such:

·      I will be deleting all DM’s on these platforms 24 hours before Meta implements these changes.

·      I would appreciate you deleting any chats between us from your end.

·      I will no longer be using these secondary, complimentary services to discuss anything other than forwarded reels, stories or other base information.

·      I will no longer be using these apps on my phone and only checking them when on a computer.
